As I work out a few designs, I’ve been on a designed-by-others shawl finishing spree lately.
After finishing Brickless in Happy Fuzzy Yarns Corrie Sock, I finished two more shawls.
First, I finished Verdaia, designed by Jodie St. Clair. This shawl appeared on my wish list of things to knit when it was released back in 2010! I’ve been waiting for the perfect yarn to come along and it did — FAVE Sock by fiberstory in colourway Joe — a brown-green, this is the skein Sarah very kindly gifted me after TNNA. I’ve since purchased more, I love Sarah’s colours. If you’re lucky enough to be heading to Stitches Midwest this August, fiberstory will have a booth.
On Monday I finally finished my Follow your Arrow Mystery KAL Shawl that Ysolda began in January. It was a fun knit that really didn’t take much time at all, however, I chose a solid brown yarn (Cascade Heritage Sock in Bark) to work with. By the time the final clue came around in the middle of our long winter, I was craving colour and set this aside for brighter knits. For each of the five clues I randomly chose based on coin flips. This shawl is a gift for a special woman in my life and I love all that it represents.
All three shawls I’ve knitted recently have given me ideas for my own designs. I know I’ll also be referring to designer Holly Chayes‘ Shawl Geometry e-Books and Anna Dalvi‘s Shaping Shawls when I sit down to work on them.
What project have you recently finished? What shape shawl is your favourite?
