marled lichen stockinette

This swatch is from fabric of a project I ripped because the design wasn’t working but I love the fabric.

It’s a strand of Valley Yarns 2/14 Alpaca Silk (80% Alpaca, 20% Silk) in grey held with a strand of madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light in Lichen. The Tosh was once knitted into a sweater that I should not have knit with the Tosh Light. I struggle with single ply yarns. It was nice to discover that holding a strand with the Alpaca Silk creates a pleasing fabric for me. I also hope that the silk content in the lace will also help reduce pilling in the fabric.

Honestly, I wish there was less contract between the grey of the alpaca silk and the greens of the Tosh. I have bought some pure silk since I worked this swatch and there may be a cone in a darker tone that blends better with the deeper hues of the lichen and not the lighter ones. At the same time, I love this unique fabric.

The fabric was worked on 3.75mm needles and I have 22sts over 10 cm.
