golden lace texture

This stitch was once found in a vintage stitch dictionary but over the years as it spent time on my needles, it took on a life of its own. The instructions can be found in my early design, ps i heart you1, it is currently only available through ravelry2.

It’s a stitch that’s repeated at an offset. This requires you to think a little, but once the pattern is established I’ve found it easy to read. It’s also one I’ve not worked in over a decade so it’s fun to return to the muscle memory.

These photos are of the unblocked swatch and I am not sure which side I prefer. The pattern doesn’t shift on the bias. That’s my poor photography.

When I finish this piece and block it (it’s a swatch in the shape of a scarf knit with up to 77g of fingering weight yarn) I will update this post with revised photos.

Yarn: Anzula Luster3 (3-ply fingering, 50% Tussah Silk and 50% Merino. 405 yards/370 meters), colourway Saffron
Pattern: ps i heart you (ravelry link)
Needles: 3.75mm

  1. I wanted to name the design ps i <3 you but the ravlery database wouldn’t accept that as a pattern name. ↩︎
  2. I’m working on the pattern for clarity and modern sizing standards. If you purchase it now, you will automatically get an update when I revise the instructions. I will adjust the price too, so get it now while it’s only $3 ↩︎
  3. I swatched this yarn for Anzula several years ago. You can learn more those swatches at my Meet the Yarn post. ↩︎
