Notes about the yarn:

It feels crunchy and shiny straight off the cone. Not a good combination. It’s thick and thin with some pigtails (at least on the outside top end of the cone. I don’t really have much of an opinion about the yarn beyond it’s a nice string.

Notes about the swatch:

I was going to knit different swatches so that I could use different needles and compare apples not apples and oranges with a mixed sampler swatch. But I was curious how the knit fabric would feel so I jumped halfway. I thought I knew how I’d knit this up and now that I’m examining this steam blocked swatch I’m very unsure of my direction.

Notes about the yarn:

I’d been skeptical of this style of yarn. Jessie’s revised pattern nudged me to give it a shot. It’s subtle and fun.

Notes about the swatch:

this is the first square of the design and I decided to knit it and if I got gauge I’d keep going with the scarf. Imagine my surprise that I did on the first try.

Notes about the yarn:

It’s a good work horse yarn. I’ve not thought to make a non-superwash blanket before so I’m going to work up a few motifs and gift it to the cat.

Notes about the swatch:

Unblocked! Will update after I block it.

deep orange crochet hexagon with puff and cluster stitches on a white background. It has not been blocked nor any ends woven.

Notes about the yarn:

This will be a great workhorse yarn. It’s plied evenly and the colors are all nice. It feels like a comfortable worsted yarn. Similar but a tad denser than Fishermen’s wool.

Notes about the swatch:

I wanted to see what a firm fabric would feel like and be like to work, so I worked TSS with the “recommended” hook size of 5mm. It’s dense and firm and was not painfully stiff to crochet. After blocking it softened tremendously while maintaining my desired fabric characteristics.

Notes about the yarn:

A beautiful two ply that’s a bit rustic. looks great in stockinette at a small gauge and likely will sing in lace.

Notes about the swatch:

Honestly I don’t recall knitting this swatch, I found it while cleaning up my studio. It’s likely several years old. This is a lovely fabric. I would like to intentionally swatch with this yarn again.
