Description
Sock-weight yarns of all permutations – full size, minis, and partial skeins – multiply in my stash when I’m not looking. The goal of this design is one that is interesting to work on, doesn’t require my complete concentration, and is finished after a few evenings watching TV.
start with chai is knit on the bias, this hair ribbon is knit in a pattern of two straightforward rows. Once the pattern is established after the first few rows, I believe it is possible to work while contemplating the meaning of chai. If you work the wider ribbon, a double chai, out of a mini, it will create a shorter ribbon.
When you work the wider size, a double chai, from a mini skein, you’ll get a shorter ribbon; that’s the maths of width versus available yardage. If you want a longer one, you’ll need more yarn. For either size, you’re welcome to stop knitting whenever the ribbon feels long enough to you; both lengths given are guidelines, not a hard stop. Since the fabric is worked on a larger needle, it opens up and stretches, so even the shorter, wider size is wearable by most adult heads.
This versatile stitch pattern shines in solids, kettle dyed, variegated, and speckled yarns. Fiber content isn’t crucial, but a smooth yarn will let the stitch pattern show at its best.
A portion of all start with chai pattern sales will support Chai Lifeline. Chai Lifeline is an international support network, providing social, emotional, and practical assistance to children, families, and communities impacted by medical crises and trauma.
